کارت‌های شبکه از نظر نوع کاربری در دو دسته کارت شبکه مخصوص کامپیوتر و کارت شبکه مخصوص سرور جای می‌گیرند.

یکی دیگر از دسته‌بندی هایی که برای کارت‌های شبکه انجام می‌شود براساس سرعت است که در سرعت‌های 10، 100، 10/100، 1000 مگابیت بر ثانیه ، 10 گیگابیت اترنت و 25 گیگ و بالاتر ارائه شده‌اند. در میان سرعت‌های گفته شده سرعت‌های اول برای شبکه‌های محلی کوچک و مصارف خانگی یا دفاتر کوچک به کار برده می‌شوند، سرعت 1Gb/s برای شبکه‌های گیگابیت مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرد و سرعت‌های 10، 25، 40و 100 برای شبکه‌های سازمانی و مراکزداده ایده‌آل هستند. سرور شبکه وظیفه پشتیبانی از چند کامپیوتر و سوئیچ اترنت را بر عهده دارد و در مقابل تمام ورودی‌ها و خروجی‌های داده بین اینترنت و کلاینت مسئولیت دارد و از قابلیت جا‌به‌جایی حجم بالایی از ترافیک برخوردار است در نتیجه کارت شبکه‌ای که در سرور مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرد می‌بایست دارای سرعت‌های بالاتری مانند 10، 25، 40 و 100 گیگ باشد.
کارت شبکه 10g – کارت شبکه 10g
در ادامه تعدادی از پارت‌نامبرهایی که کاربرد بیشتری دارند با هم بررسی می‌کنیم:
- HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port BASE-T 57810S Adapter
پارت‌نامبر 656596-B21 که در مدل 530T عرضه شده است از پورت‌های اترنت 10Gbase-T برخوردار است که نوع اتصال آن RJ45 است. این آداپتور با 2 پورت و در فرم فکتور Plug-in card به بازار ارائه شده است. این آداپتور برای سرورهای ایستاده و رکمونت پرولیانت نسل 8 اچ‌پی یعنی سری DL و سری ML طراحی شده است. آداپتور HPE 530T با استفاده از کابل کشی CAT 6A UTP با مسافت حداکثر 100 متر ، عملکرد کامل خط را در تمام پورت های با مصرف برق کم ارائه می دهد. با ایجاد اتصال اترنت با کارایی بالا ، برای محیط های سرور مجازی و رایانش ابری بسیار ایده‌آل است. به کمک این کابل‌کشی تا مسافت 100 متر را پشتیبانی می‌کند. این کارت شبکه از حافظه 256 مگابایتی، و پروتکل شبکه 10Gigabit Ethernet و Gigabit Ethernet و سرعت انتقال دیتای 40 گیگابیت بر ثانیه برخوردار است به عبارت دیگر 20 گیگابیت بر ثانیه full duplex برای هر پورت ارائه می‌دهد و به‌همین دلیل می‌تواند زمان پاسخگویی را کاهش دهد و کارایی بالایی در شبکه فراهم سازد و با پهنای باند 10 گیگابیت اترنتی که دارد برای سرور مجازی، رایانش ابری، HPC و Database Clusters ایده آل است.
کارت شبکه 10g – کارت شبکه 10g
کارت شبکه(NIC):
NIC یا Network Interface Card به معنی کارت رابط شبکه می‌باشد، کارت شبکه از اجزای داخلی سرور است که برای برقراری ارتباط از طریق شبکه با رایانه دیگر استفاده می‌شود.
کارت شبکه تنها مؤلفه برای برقراری ارتباط یا اتصال به شبکه است. کارت‌های شبکه که با سیم به شبکه متصل می‌شوند، از کابل RJ-45 برای اتصال استفاده می‌کنند.
کارت شبکه 10g
کارت‌های شبکه معمولاً دو لایه اول مدل OSI ، یعنی لایه فیزیکی و لایه پیوند داده را پیاده‌سازی می‌کنند که از protocol های اترنت استفاده می‌کنند.
